For English, you can also take a language test at UCT: https://www.ugent.be/lw/uct/en/language-testing Some partner institutions require an official language test, e.g. TOEFL test. (Test of English as a Foreign Language). You will have to register for this test at one of the test centres. OLS Language test (for Erasmus students only) Before the start of your mobility period (July-September) you receive by e-mail an invitation from the Online Linguistic Support System (by order of the European Commission) to participate in a language test. The test is compulsory but gives you the opportunity to see where you stand in terms of language level. It also gives you the opportunity to take an online language course during your stay. This course is free of charge. The test is compulsory for all outgoing ERASMUS students. You will be tested for the language you will be studying. If you are going to Spain but most of your subjects will be taught in English, you will be tested for English. Students who do not have to take a language test are:- students who study the language of their host country - students who can be considered native speakers of the language in which they will study (e.g. via nationality or via e.g. following an English-language course) As an Erasmus student, you have to take the test twice - before or at the beginning of your mobility period and at the end - in order to measure your progress. You will receive - unless you fall outside the obligation - an invitation by e-mail from the Online Linguistic Support System to take the language test. Filling in the language test takes about 45 minutes. The system will automatically guide you through the different steps. Afterwards, you will immediately see the level (A1-A2-B1- B2-C1-C2 ) you have attained in the various sections of the test. If your overall level is below B2, you will be invited, without obligation, to take an online language course during your Erasmus stay. The results do not affect your acceptance by the host university/internship. At the end of your stay, you will receive a new invitation e-mail to fill in the final language test. This language test can NOT be used to prove your language level at the host institution.
